Crash cushions

Crash cus­hions are used to pro­tect vehicles from hit­ting rigid objects or pre­vent them from cras­hing with the begin­ning or end of a safe­ty bar­ri­er. To incre­a­se the pro­tecti­ve fun­c­tion dif­fe­rent designs exist.




Com­mon for all crash cus­hions are that they should be tested for a speed class and CE-marked. The pro­per­ti­es of a crash cus­hion are descri­bed by:
  • Speed class
  • Impact seve­ri­ty level
  • Class of late­ral displacement
  • Redirec­tion zone class
